Since 2020, BITA has been implementing a project to address the complex challenges faced by vulnerable communities in Cox’s Bazar’s host areas and Rohingya camps, aiming to foster long-term positive change. The project impacted 18,324 individuals, including 11,655 children (47.43% boys, 52.57% girls) and 6,669 adults (42.29% male, 57.71% female). By strengthening household and community-based mechanisms, BITA works to build a more resilient and empowered community, focusing on mitigating risks and enhancing protective environments for children and families. To ensure effective implementation, 7 Community-Based Child Protection Committees (CBCPCs), 10 child clubs, 20 parent groups, and 20 adolescent groups were formed, supported by 28 Para Social Workers (PSWs), balancing paid and volunteer roles. These groups play a crucial role in raising awareness and driving local action. Training sessions were conducted for school, college, and madrasa teachers to address issues like corporal and humiliating punishment, child abuse, neglect, trafficking, child labor, exploitation, and the importance of accessing referral services. Through 11 Multipurpose Child and Adolescent Centers (MPCACs), 4,835 children received regular psychosocial support at both host and camp levels, helping them cope with trauma and build emotional resilience. In Camp-18, community-led efforts, supported by the CIC office and site development teams, led to the installation of a speed breaker, ensuring safer road crossings for children and the broader community. These integrated interventions, built on collaboration and local leadership, aim to uplift vulnerable populations affected by the Rohingya crisis and the ongoing impact of COVID-19. BITA’s holistic approach not only addresses immediate protection concerns but also invests in long-term community development, creating a safer, more supportive environment where children and families can thrive.
